A timid and weak prince, born to a concubine from a former dynasty, was scorned by the people and neglected by the emperor. As an adult, he was never granted a fief and was constantly bullied. His mother, the concubine, begged for her son’s title for three days and nights, kneeling in the rain in front of the palace.
